I am not a scholar and apologize to those that study and know the tradition of ENSO. I read, think and ponder then and add my own perspective. I make it what works for me. I change it, I emulate it, I work with it.\u00a0\u00a0 I add my own flair to it.<\/p>\n<p>I am influenced by it. I make it part of me.<\/p>\n<p>Painting a traditional\u00a0<strong>ENSO:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The painter starts from the lower left side [between the &#8216;7&#8217; and &#8216;8&#8217; on a clock].<\/li>\n<li>The painter makes it in a SINGLE stroke.<\/li>\n<li>The painter may take hours, days, years, decades contemplating what the\u00a0<strong>ENSO<\/strong> will be. I have taken that to mean they were searching for answers to all questions or one single over-riding question.<\/li>\n<li>What are we doing here? \u00a0What is the reason?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>The ultimate question = &#8220;what is the meaning of life?&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I generally start in the same corner &#8212; lower left. I do my best to make a circle with a single motion. I don&#8217;t always make it. So I make many strokes. Some of the time over 100 strokes in a single combined <strong>ENSO<\/strong>. I believe each stroke &#8216;around the sun&#8217; represents a life lived.<\/p>\n<p>The<strong> ENSO<\/strong> is the symbol of life. It looks easy to do, but in reality it is quite hard. Try to paint an <strong>ENSO. <\/strong>Make sure there is enough paint on the brush. Make sure to make a round circle and don&#8217;t square it too much. Remember a true\u00a0<strong>ENSO<\/strong> is only one stroke &#8212; one shot. I changed that to many strokes.<\/p>\n<p>In life we re-emerge and change.<\/p>\n<p>I believe in representing many lives with all the circles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Some lives are bright,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">some are messy,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">some are dark,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">some are low,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">some are fabulous,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">some are not.<\/p>\n<p>There is an\u00a0<strong>ENSO<\/strong> for every type.\u00a0 It will emerge &#8211; if you let it.<\/p>\n<p>My favorite book on this is<span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Enso-Enlightenment-Audrey-Yoshiko-Seo\/dp\/0834805758\"> ENSO: ZEN CIRCLES OF ENLIGHTENMENT<\/a><\/span> by Audrey Yoshiko Seo.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>38<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know. It was not planned. The number\u00a0just continued to appear. I was <strong>38<\/strong>\u00a0when I set up my first\u00a0personal email account. I always used my corporate email.\u00a0 It represents a new life. A new beginning. Freedom. Independence. I was also <strong>38<\/strong> when I became a single father to my children. It was also a new beginning. An end to one &#8212; a beginning to another.<\/p>\n<p>Then using <strong>38<\/strong> for a few years, I happened across this picture and realized the first time I ever played a sport for the sake of winning &#8212; being in an organized game and with only the best surviving.\u00a0 I wore the number <strong>38<\/strong>.\u00a0 That was in 7th grade.\u00a0 It was also a transition.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"38enso_inspiration\" src=\"http:\/\/38enso.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/38enso_inspiration-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"38enso_inspiration\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Different lives. I have four wonderful children and a great and supportive wife. After going back to corporate world, I am now separated from it again. Another transition. I started my consulting and now it&#8217;s more than decade. Each year gets better and busier.<\/p>\n<p>I painted a book of <strong>38\u00a0ENSO<\/strong> images during this change.
