\"\"<\/a>July is usually a very slow time for book publishing.\u00a0 It is summer.\u00a0 People take vacations and the store sales are slow.\u00a0 It is a time to recharge for the Fall push.\u00a0\u00a0 The 4th Quarter when the year is make or break.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Being a Corporate Advisor is different.\u00a0\u00a0 I prefer “Advisor” over “Consultant.”\u00a0 Consultants come in an assess and then jump out to the next project.\u00a0 Advisors remain and help build what they started.\u00a0\u00a0 At least that is how I see it.\u00a0 Plus, Consultant gets such a bad rap in the classic movie OFFICE SPACE<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 If you have not seen it, download and watch.\u00a0\u00a0 Very funny.<\/p>\n

But I have been very busy this July.\u00a0\u00a0 In addition to my regular publishing clients, I have been meeting with a lot of related groups.\u00a0\u00a0 I advise on digital strategy and eBooks.\u00a0\u00a0 My base is publishers.\u00a0 But recently I have met with three top literary agencies; a tech company that serves corporate publishers; a media agency; two software development companies and a big bookseller.\u00a0\u00a0 All are concerned about what the new world of digital books will mean for their piece of the action.<\/p>\n

Everyone is interested and has questions.\u00a0\u00a0 But the answers are elusive.<\/p>\n

I feel the rules are being written now.\u00a0 Experimentation is everywhere.\u00a0 Time to try new things and not be afraid of failure.\u00a0\u00a0 There is money to be made and new channels to open up.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Chaos is good.\u00a0 It leads to a new world.\u00a0 It takes the best and strongest and luckiest of the old and re-positions them in the new.<\/p>\n

I enjoy being a small piece of this change.\u00a0\u00a0 But I also don’t want to lose site of the past — the history.\u00a0\u00a0 I am still a big reader of paper and ink.\u00a0 But I realize the eBook is happening now.<\/p>\n
